Tetra Tech, a global leader in high-end consulting and engineering services, is growing its Building Services team in Leicester and is looking for a talented
Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding group. With a strong UK-wide presence, Tetra Tech delivers innovative mechanical and electrical engineering solutions across sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Defence. The Leicester office plays a key role in delivering technically challenging and sustainable projects across the region.
Your new role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of building services projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality mechanical engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing mechanical systems (HVAC, public health, etc.) from concept to completion
- Producing detailed design calculations, specifications, and technical drawings
- Supporting senior engineers with site surveys, inspections, and construction stage duties
- Coordinating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines
- Ensuring compliance with current building regulations and sustainability standards
- Participating in project meetings and contributing to technical discussions
- Developing your technical skills with guidance from experienced engineers
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working on mechanical building services projects within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, and NBS
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive and solution-focused mindset
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
