Principal Mechanical Engineer | Waterlooville, United Kingdom | Hybrid | £54,500

They are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative and supportive team, contributing to the development of advanced, technology-led solutions for a safer future.
The Role
- Provide comprehensive mechanical engineering support for platform systems, including fluid, hydraulic, HVAC, firefighting, propulsion, and mechanical drive systems.
- Lead structured analysis, maintain configuration control, and prepare authoritative safety evidence for diverse naval platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as MOD teams, overseas navies, OEMs, and project groups to capture and guide system requirements.
- Act as a primary technical contact for the Warship Technical Authority (WTA) while supporting wider organisational priorities.
- Offer effective line management for a team of engineers, providing leadership, performance oversight, and professional development.
- Contribute technical leadership, governance, and specialist expertise across platform systems for UK and international programmes.
What You'll Need
- Broad knowledge of complex platform systems across UK and international markets.
- Good understanding of applicable industry standards and governance frameworks (CSM, LCM).
- Ability to rapidly apply mechanical engineering knowledge to a wide range of platform systems, sub-systems, and equipment.
- Experienced professional engineer at Chartered Engineer (CEng) level or equivalent capability.
- Experience in managing engineers, ensuring clear leadership and professional development.
- Ability to operate effectively within defined assurance frameworks.
