IT Specialist

Robert Half is partnering with a nonprofit organization based in Spokane, Washington, seeking an IT Support Specialist to join their team. This individual will be responsible for providing day-to-day technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and maintaining technology systems to ensure employees have the tools and resources needed to work efficiently.
Location: 100% onsite in Spokane, Washington
Duration: Short-term contract; potential to extend or convert
Schedule: Monday-Friday (37.5 hours weekly)
Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, software applications, and network connectivity issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, and standard business applications.
• Respond to, document, and resolve technical support requests through the organization's help desk ticketing system.
• Manage technology assets throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, inventory tracking, maintenance, and replacement.
• Support Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, user account administration, and basic network connectivity troubleshooting.
• Assist with maintaining information security practices, data protection measures, and technology policies.
• Provide technical guidance and training to employees to improve technology adoption and security awareness.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams and stakeholders on system upgrades, technology improvements, and ongoing IT initiatives.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, service records, and equipment inventories.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support, help desk, desktop support, or a related technical support role.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical education or certifications are a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, computer hardware, and standard business applications.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, network connectivity, and user access issues.
• Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems, remote support tools, and IT asset management.
• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, information security, and data privacy best practices.
• CompTIA A+ certification or other IT certifications.
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple support requests and work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Comfortable providing technical support to users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
• Ability to travel between assigned locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting IT environments within nonprofit, healthcare, or other service-oriented organizations.
• Familiarity with handling confidential information and HIPAA-related security practices.
• Experience assisting with technology deployments, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
