Job Description

Position: Sr. Compute Engineer

Location: Remote

Hiring Mode: 6+ Months Contract

Job Description:

Compute Engineeris responsible for shaping and delivering compute strategies across data center, private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid environments. This role serves as a senior technical leader who connects business requirements to practical compute architectures that are scalable, resilient, secure, and economically sustainable.

This is a remote U.S.-based contract opportunity (excluding Data Center Technicians) supporting a strategic customer initiative through March 31, 2027, with strong potential for extension based on project success.

Responsibilities:

  • Define compute architecture standards, reference designs, and technology roadmaps across physical, virtualized, and cloud-based environments.
  • Assess workload requirements, capacity needs, performance objectives, availability targets, and operational constraints.
  • Lead solution design for server, virtualization, container-hosting, high-performance, and workload-acceleration platforms where applicable.
  • Guide modernization initiatives, including consolidation, migration, automation, lifecycle refresh, and adoption of cloud-native capabilities.
  • Coordinate architects, engineers, delivery teams, and technology partners through design, implementation, testing, and transition to operations.
  • Establish practices for monitoring, patching, capacity planning, resilience, disaster recovery, and ongoing platform optimization.
  • Communicate architectural tradeoffs, risks, costs, and recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operations teams.
  • Drive best practices around scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise compute infrastructure solutions.
  • Deep expertise in server technologies, virtualization platforms, and enterprise compute architectures.
  • Strong understanding of private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid cloud deployment models.
  • Experience with container platforms and modern application hosting environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess capacity, performance, resiliency, and availability requirements.
  • Experience leading infrastructure modernization, migration, and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
  • Proven experience working across architecture, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field equivalent experience preferred.
