Mechanical Designer / Drafter II - AutoCAD | Norwich, CT, United States | On-site

This employer is a leading provider of engineering and technical services, supporting critical national defense programs. They are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Designer/Drafter to contribute to advanced submarine and unmanned underwater vehicle projects. The Role

  • Develop and update technical drawings and 3D models for US Navy submarine and UUV programs.
  • Conduct ship checks on submarines to gather field data and verify existing configurations.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to optimize mechanical designs for shipboard installations.
  • Ensure drawings adhere to Navy, DoD, and company standards, including GD&T.
  • Maintain accurate Lists of Material (LOM) and configuration management processes.
  • Support the development of shipboard installation and arrangement drawings.

What You'll Need

  • High School Diploma or GED plus a Computer-Aided Design/Drafting Certificate.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in 2D or 3D CAD drafting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering documentation.
  • Physical capability for ship checks, including working in confined spaces and climbing ladders.
