RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client in Austin, TX that is seeking a Robotic Controls Technician.

Position Overview

The Controls Technician will support commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC-controlled automation systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses heavily on hands-on electrical work, PLC interaction, and production-floor automation support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission I/O systems, safety devices, and automation equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors, and electrical systems (24VDC-480VAC)
  • Support automated systems including conveyors, robotics, and mobile automation equipment
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, Profinet)
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC/HMI logic
  • Assist with integration and system handshakes across automated equipment
  • Partner with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve system issues
  • Follow strict electrical safety and lockout/tagout procedures

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of experience in automation, controls, or a manufacturing environment (recent grads)
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting background (low-to-high voltage systems)
  • Hands-on experience with PLC/HMI systems (Siemens preferred)

Experience with

  • Motor controls and VFDs
  • Industrial troubleshooting

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
