Senior VSCode Extension Developer
Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (On-site)
Role Overview
A senior-level engineer is required to design, build, and scale advanced Visual Studio Code extensions supporting complex developer workflows. The successful candidate will operate independently and influence technical direction, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex IDE and developer experience challenges. This position focuses on delivering high-impact tooling used by broader developer communities to enhance productivity and streamline operations.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and scale sophisticated Visual Studio Code extensions to optimize developer workflows.
• Build robust integrations with custom source control systems, virtual file systems, and productivity tools.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to influence technical direction and establish enterprise development standards.
• Navigate and resolve complex developer experience and IDE-related technical challenges.
• Publish, version, and maintain high-impact developer tools and extensions at scale.
• Ensure extension performance, security, and alignment with modern architectural best practices.

Required Qualifications
Experience: Eight to ten or more years of software engineering experience with a documented history of delivering production-grade developer tools or IDE extensions.
Technical Skills: Deep expertise in Visual Studio Code extension development, including the extension APIs and workspace management. Strong programming proficiency in Python, Node.js, and C# is required.
Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering developer tooling adopted by large technical communities.
• Advanced understanding of VSCode architecture, internals, and performance optimization.
