Job Description

Are you an experienced heating and refrigeration engineer looking for a stable, long-term site-based role?

My client is recruiting for an OFTEC & F-Gas Qualified Engineer to join their team on an ongoing commercial maintenance contract in Cambridge.

Long-term site-based maintenance contract

Paid travelling time & overtime available

Company van & on-call allowance

The role is a Site-Based Engineer, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance needs of a designated commercial site or portfolio of sites. You'll be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, and ensuring all systems operate safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and builds strong relationships with clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM and reactive repairs on oil-fired heating systems and air conditioning/refrigeration plant.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently to minimise client downtime.
  • Service, commission, and maintain OFTEC and F-Gas regulated equipment.
  • Complete job sheets, service records, F-Gas logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Update CAFM systems via handheld tablet and liaise with the helpdesk.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant regulations, health & safety legislation, RAMS, and site requirements.
  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact for the client.
  • Identify additional works and remedial requirements for quotation.
  • Manage spare parts, materials, and plant room standards.
  • Participate in the callout rota as required.

What we're looking for:

Essential

  • OFTEC qualification.
  • F-Gas qualification.
  • Proven experience in commercial or industrial maintenance.
  • Strong technical knowledge of oil-fired heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Experience working to SFG20 planned maintenance guidelines.
  • Ability to use CAFM systems and handheld tablets.
  • Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Gas Safe or ACS qualification.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
