Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Contract Duration: 24+ Months
Location: San Diego, CA-Hybrid
Expected Pay Range: $70-$75/hour on W2

Job Description-

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Mail & Messaging team within Systems Engineering. This role focuses on building, operating, and improving the systems that support internet email technologies and messaging infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a strong engineer with experience in Linux-based services, software development, and large-scale operational systems. You will work alongside senior engineers and architects to deliver reliable, scalable solutions while developing deeper expertise in mail technologies and distributed systems.

What you will do in this role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain services and automation supporting enterprise mail and messaging infrastructure.
  • Write and maintain production-quality code in Python or a comparable language to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving email systems, backend services, networking, and Linux platforms.
  • Implement and support service integrations, APIs, and operational tooling used by the Mail & Messaging team.
  • Drive small to medium-sized projects within the team, identifying opportunities to improve processes, automation, and service health.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, operational readiness activities, and mentoring of newer engineers.

Required Skills-

  • Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems in production environments.
  • Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language, with experience building and maintaining production services.
  • Experience supporting or developing internet email technologies such as SMTP, message routing, authentication, mail delivery, anti-spam controls, or related messaging platforms.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, distributed systems concepts, and system performance troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver technical projects, collaborate across teams, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
