Job Description

Our fantastic client are a well-established and growing sporting & community organisation based North of the River who are currently on the lookout for an experienced Finance Officer / Bookkeeper to join their friendly & supportive team.

Working closely with the CEO & external finance support, this exciting opportunity has arisen due to the organisation's continued growth and development. As a well-established not-for-profit with strong community presence & growing membership base they prides themselves on their positive culture & collaborative team environment.

This is a part-time opportunity (24–30 hours per week) with flexibility around days and future growth potential. Required working days include Wednesday & Thursday however they are quite flexible across the hours/days otherwise including full days or school hours options. Start times of 9.30am/10am also work well for the organization so please make sure to outline in your cover letter what days / hours / starting time would be your preference.

Duties include but are not limited to

Manage Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable functions

Raise and issue invoices accurately and in a timely manner

Process supplier payments, banking transactions and assist with day-to-day cash flow activities

Follow up outstanding accounts and maintain member payment plans

Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records

Assist with month-end reconciliations and reporting

Process fortnightly payroll for staff, referees, coaches & casual workforce

Assist with payroll compliance including leave, superannuation and responding to payroll queries

Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports & supporting documentation

Support preparation & tracking of budgets in consultation with management and the Board

Prepare finance information and reports for Board and committee meetings

Liaise with external Accountants and assist with audit preparation, BAS documentation and compliance requirements

Use MYOB, Excel and internal systems to maintain accurate finance records

Contribute to improvements across finance and administration processes

Liaise with members, suppliers and stakeholders regarding accounts and payment enquiries

Provide general administrative support & assist the team as required

Assist in maintaining financial records and ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements

Requirements

3+ years previous experience within a Finance Officer / Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant or similar finance support role working on all aspects of financial management including overseeing payroll, budget, reporting & compliance requirements.

Previous experience within a NFP, membership organisation, sporting community or similar environment highly advantageous

Strong stakeholder engagement skills & ability to communicate with a diverse membership base

Professional yet empathetic approach when handling account queries & payment discussions

MYOB Advanced experience preferred

Intermediate MS Suite skills (Excel in particular)

Tech savvy as a large variety of sports/facility management software is used internally

Minimum Cert IV Accounting & Bookkeeping or relevant Accounting degree

Current Working With Children Check or ability to obtain

Professionally presented with excellent communication skills - written & verbal

Ability to handle confidential information professionally
