Job Description
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Bookkeeper to join their firm. The primary responsibilities of this role is to provide accurate bookkeeping for a book of small business clients and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will help keep financial records precise and up-to-date, supporting the client’s growth and stability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your accounting skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to meaningful financial management. If you have experience preparing taxes, that’s a big plus. If not, this is a great opportunity to expand your skills, as the firm offers training on tax preparation or simply supporting the tax team, if there’s interest. Location is on Pacific Coast. Fully Remote.
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software, using Xero and QuickBooks
- Perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data integrity
- Process payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
- Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and general ledger accounting to support organizational planning
- Conduct account reconciliation activities including bank reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation
- Ability (or willingness to learn) to prepare tax returns for individuals, small businesses, and non-profit organizations while ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in accounting roles with a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or similar platforms
- Solid knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, GAAP standards, and account analysis
- Experience with payroll processing and managing accounts payable/receivable workflows
- Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across teams
- Xero Certified Advisor and/or QBO ProAdvisor designation, nice to have
- EA or CPA designation, nice to have
