Job Description

To be considered for this position you must have a 'CURRENT' TS/SCI DoD Clearance, sorry no exceptions.

The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is running this search for a premier aerospace and defense client in San Diego, California. The client needs a Full Stack Software Engineer to help advance a cloud-native planning platform that supports a vital U.S. government program. This engineer will work across every layer of the system, from backend infrastructure and APIs to browser-based interfaces, integration and verification. They'll also have real ownership over how that software is designed and built.

The client's team is highly collaborative. Seasoned engineers work closely with government stakeholders and outside development partners. The team values clean architecture, carefully written code and dependable delivery, and the engineering choices made here directly shape whether the program succeeds. The role also offers hands-on experience with current cloud, DevSecOps and systems-integration practices. It's an ideal next step for a problem-solver who wants their work to matter.

What You'll Do

  • Architect, build, integrate, verify and maintain complex applications and the infrastructure underneath them
  • Engineer backend services, APIs and browser-based front-end applications
  • Shape software architecture and help make key technical design decisions
  • Craft clean, maintainable code that can scale and be extended over time
  • Unify components and subsystems delivered by multiple teams and partner organizations
  • Author and maintain technical documentation and software design artifacts
  • Drive quality through hands-on testing, debugging, troubleshooting and QA
  • Partner with a distributed engineering group, government stakeholders and external collaborators
  • Translate technical concepts and design reasoning for both engineering and non-technical audiences
  • Advance the ongoing evolution of a complex, cloud-hosted platform

What You Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Mathematics or a comparable technical discipline
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Deep proficiency in Java, TypeScript and Object-Oriented Programming
  • A proven track record in API Design and implementation, plus Software Systems Integration
  • Working knowledge of Full Stack Web Application Development
  • A firm grasp of Software Engineering Principles and modern development best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical designs clearly
  • Proven success in collaborative engineering settings that span multiple organizations

Highly Desirable:

  • MongoDB, RabbitMQ and Spring Boot
  • React / Redux
  • WebGL and/or OpenGL
  • AWS, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Git, CI/CD and DevSecOps
  • UI/UX Development
  • Formal engineering documentation, such as Software Design Descriptions (SDDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs)
  • System-Level Debugging and Software Troubleshooting
  • Advanced mathematics, especially Linear Algebra, Multivariate Calculus, Probability and Statistics
  • Background supporting Navy programs or other DoD agencies

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Annual base salary of $140,000–$190,000
  • Stock, plus a top-tier benefits package
  • Paid relocation
