Job Description

Duties The primary purpose of this position is: To develop, modify and apply inspection techniques such as ul trasonic, eddy current, radiographic or liquid penetrant on parts, components or complete systems for which procedures/processes have not been developed. DUTY 1: Using the ul trasonic-eddy current processes, performs inspections of aircraft, engine, missile, ground support equipment, etc., parts and components, support equipment structural members, components, parts, and other materials for which inspection procedures and/or acceptability standards are inadequate or not available.

DUTY 2: Conducts industrial radiography (x-ray) tests on aircraft components and parts for which procedures/processes have not been developed. Studies blueprints, drawings, loft tables, and other similar technical data to determine type and size of jig and/or fixture required to hold camera in proper position, types of metals and materials to be x-rayed, distance of shot, voltage(s) to be applied, exposure time, type film, and safety precautions to be observed. DUTY 3: Ul trasonic eddy, current and magnaflux/zyglo inspection duties.

DUTY 4: Administers the Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (SOAP). DUTY 5: Utilizes safety practices and procedures and complies with security regulations, directives, and policies. Requirements Conditions of employment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Completes Oil Breakdown Rate Analysis (COBRA): Performs COBRA inspections of aircraft engine oil samples to determine the rate of lubricant degradation. Establishes and monitors trend analysis of the applicable engine.

  • AFSC: 2A7X2 Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG-3700 Metal Processing Family QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3700 Metal Processing Family.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to perform the work of a NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER with little to no supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the electronics trade, ability to operate a computer, ability to convert instructions into appropriate computer language(s), as necessary. 2. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the industrial radiology trade. 3.

Ability to use a variety of test and measurement equipment. 4. Knowledge of and ability to use radiology systems, equipment or accessories, knowledge of basic shop mathematics or handbook formulae to calculate basic values or specifications, knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders, knowledge of tool, equipment, and materials accounting and security, knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures, knowledge of requirements and skill in the use of SOAP and CEMS. 5.

Ability to cali brate equipment used in the industrial radiology trade. 6. Ability to locate component/part deficiencies and recommend resolution. CONDTIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT'D 1. Ensures tools are properly marked, cali brated (if necessary), and are secured when area is unattended 2. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA).

The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. 3. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. 4. Performs other related duties as assigned. May conduct OJT and/or classroom training. Also works with engineering, quality and laboratory personnel in establishing new testing procedures, providing practical technical assistance based on knowledge and experience. 5. This is a testing designated position (TD P).

The employee is subject to random drug testing.

Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (with or without aid).
