Database Administrator

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce's client in Lansing, MI is looking for a Database Administrator to join an Enterprise Data team, with a focus on PostgreSQL and SQL Server. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience and will be responsible for the installation, patching, security, and capacity management of PostgreSQL and SQL Server database management systems.

Primary Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day activities of production and non-production database systems to ensure smooth operation across all environments
• Manage database and operating system space to support database performance and availability
• Create and respond to automated alerts to ensure the integrity and stability of database systems
• Develop and maintain work instructions supporting enterprise database systems and DBA team operations
• Develop processes and procedures for database performance and integrity, including backup and recovery, automation, system health, and operational readiness
• Evaluate, recommend, and oversee the implementation of new database technologies and their integration into the technology environment
• Develop and maintain business recovery and disaster recovery processes
• Provide technical assistance and support to internal and external database users
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support on a monthly team rotation

REQUIREMENTS:

• PostgreSQL database administration experience, preferably with EDB
• SQL Server database administration experience
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as BASH, KSH, PowerShell, Python, or Perl
• Experience automating routine database maintenance activities
• Experience working in Microsoft Windows Server and/or Unix environments
• Database performance tuning experience across OLTP and Data Warehouse environments
• Proficiency with backup and recovery software and concepts
• Experience with high-availability database solutions
• Experience with cloud database migration and administration
• Ability to independently troubleshoot database performance issues while collaborating across multiple teams
• Ability to provide guidance on database best practices and efficiency improvements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
