Job description

We are seeking a Storage Engineer to help design, validate, and support enterprise storage solutions across the full product lifecycle. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to work closely with engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and field teams to improve storage reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
Responsibilities
  • Design, integrate, and validate storage hardware, firmware, software, and management tools for new and sustaining releases.
  • Test high availability, fault tolerance, failover, recovery, and data protection features under real-world failure scenarios.
  • Benchmark and analyze storage performance, including throughput, latency, and system resource usage.
  • Lead root-cause investigations across storage devices, controllers, firmware, Linux, and network components.
  • Build automation tools using Python, Bash, or C to streamline configuration, diagnostics, validation, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Support security validation efforts, including authentication integration, logging, encryption, and FIPS-related requirements where applicable.
  • Evaluate backup, replication, and recovery strategies, including integration with S3-compatible storage where supported.
  • Define manufacturing, deployment, and test procedures, along with firmware baselines and production handoff requirements.
  • Coordinate storage qualification efforts, engineering changes, and release activities while maintaining clear technical documentation.
Skills
  • Strong systems engineering background with hands-on experience in storage integration and validation.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line environments.
  • Experience using performance and debugging tools such as fio, iostat, perf, sar, iperf, sysbench, or similar utilities.
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming in Python, Bash, and/or C.
  • Experience working with firmware, BIOS, BMC/iDRAC, or large-scale system configuration.
  • Familiarity with high-speed networking technologies, including Ethernet or InfiniBand.
  • Understanding of enterprise storage technologies such as NVMe, RAID, distributed storage, replication, or erasure coding.
  • Ability to work across multiple technical areas and take ownership of system-level issues from investigation through resolution.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with NetApp storage technologies, including ONTAP administration, HA pairs, clustering, NFS, S3 access, and resiliency testing.
  • Experience with Dell storage technologies, including PowerScale and/or PowerFlex administration, configuration, tuning, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Background in storage security, including authentication-provider integration, syslog, full-disk encryption, and FIPS-compliant configurations.
  • Experience automating storage software and firmware upgrades across clusters or multiple systems.
  • Familiarity with global OEM/ODM vendors and manufacturing partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in storage, systems, platform, or infrastructure engineering with technical leadership and cross-functional ownership.
