Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled BSS Solution Architect / Lead Engineer with extensive experience designing, engineering, integrating, and modernizing large-scale telecommunications Business Support Systems (BSS) platforms.

This position combines the strategic responsibilities of a Solution Architect with the hands-on technical expertise of a Lead Engineer. The successful candidate will provide end-to-end ownership of solution architecture, technical design, architecture governance, system integration, modernization, and implementation delivery.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise across BSS domains including Customer Management, Product Catalog, Order Management, Service Fulfillment, Billing, Revenue Management, and Digital Channels, along with experience driving cloud modernization, API enablement, microservices adoption, and platform engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

• Design end-to-end BSS architecture supporting Consumer, Enterprise, Mobility, Fiber, and Broadband services.
• Define current-state, transition-state, and target-state architectures for enterprise transformation initiatives.
• Create solution blueprints, architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and integration frameworks.
• Lead architecture reviews and ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
• Develop reusable architecture patterns and reference models for future implementations.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient solution architectures.

Engineering & Technical Leadership

• Provide hands-on technical leadership throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Partner with development teams to guide detailed design, implementation, integration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Provide technical guidance on API design, data models, integration patterns, and system performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot complex production, integration, and platform issues.
• Conduct technical design and architecture reviews.
• Drive application modernization initiatives leveraging cloud-native technologies and microservices.
• Mentor engineering teams and provide technical direction throughout project implementation.

BSS Transformation

• Modernize legacy telecom platforms into scalable, modular, and API-driven architectures.
• Lead transformation initiatives across:
  • CRM
  • Billing
  • Product Catalog
  • Order Management
  • Service Fulfillment
  • Revenue Management
  • Digital Channels
• Support Order-to-Cash and customer lifecycle management initiatives.
• Design solutions focused on improving customer experience, operational efficiency, scalability, and business agility.
• Analyze existing platforms and recommend modernization, migration, re-platforming, or re-architecture strategies.

Integration & Platform Engineering

• Architect integrations between BSS, OSS, Network Systems, Digital Channels, CRM platforms, and third-party applications.
• Design event-driven and API-led architectures.
• Establish integration standards using:
  • REST APIs
  • Kafka
  • MuleSoft
  • Enterprise Middleware
• Design reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performance integration solutions.
• Ensure seamless data exchange and transaction processing across enterprise platforms.
• Support integration testing, deployment, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.

Cloud & Modernization

• Lead cloud migration and hybrid-cloud transformation initiatives.
• Design scalable cloud architectures leveraging AWS and Azure services.
• Support adoption of cloud-native technologies, microservices, and distributed architectures.
• Drive containerization initiatives using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Partner with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD and DevSecOps best practices.
• Support infrastructure and deployment automation, monitoring, scalability, and cloud optimization.
• Ensure cloud solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, availability, reliability, and performance.

Required Skills

• Extensive experience in Telecommunications BSS architecture and engineering.
• Strong experience as a BSS Solution Architect, BSS Architect, Lead Engineer, or similar role.
• Deep understanding of:

• Strong expertise in API-led architecture and microservices.
• Experience with REST APIs, Kafka, MuleSoft, and enterprise integration technologies.

• Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, and containerized applications.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, and security.
• Experience with legacy application modernization and cloud migration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working on large-scale telecom transformation programs.
• Experience supporting Consumer, Enterprise, Mobility, Fiber, or Broadband services.
• Knowledge of TM Forum standards and Telecom Open APIs is a plus.
• AWS or Azure cloud architecture certification is preferred.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
