An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a fast growing independent equipment hire business servicing the Victorian construction, civil, infrastructure and industrial markets. This is a newly created senior position offering the opportunity to make a genuine impact within the business. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will play a key role in driving growth, developing new markets and building long term customer relationships.
This role is ideal for an experienced hire industry professional who is looking for more than just managing an existing portfolio. You will have the autonomy to create opportunities, leverage your industry connections and help shape the future sales direction of the business.
The OpportunityYou will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities across Melbourne, developing strategic customer relationships and growing market share within the construction and civil sectors. With strong operational support behind you, you will have the opportunity to focus on growth, customer development and building a strong pipeline of future opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and secure new business opportunities across the construction, civil and infrastructure sectors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with builders, civil contractors, developers, councils and key industry stakeholders.
- Utilise existing industry networks to generate new opportunities.
- Grow existing customer relationships while actively pursuing new accounts.
- Identify upcoming projects and market opportunities.
- Conduct customer visits across Melbourne to understand requirements and provide tailored equipment hire solutions.
- Prepare quotes, negotiate agreements and manage the sales process.
- Work closely with operations and internal teams to ensure excellent customer outcomes.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and manage sales activity.
- Contribute to the development of future sales strategies and team growth.
You will be an experienced Business Development Manager, Account Manager or Sales Professional with a strong background in equipment hire, construction or civil industries.
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous experience within equipment hire (essential).
- Strong knowledge of the Melbourne construction and civil market.
- Established industry relationships and the ability to open doors with new customers.
- A proven track record of winning new business and growing accounts.
- Confidence engaging with contractors, builders, project managers and senior stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- A proactive, self driven approach with the ability to work autonomously.
- Experience using CRM systems.
- A current Australian driver's licence.

Package- Salary from $110,000 + super (negotiable depending on experience).
