As a Systems Engineer, you will support critical national defense missions by leading the engineering, deployment, modernization, and continuous improvement of enterprise backup and recovery solutions.

This role requires deep expertise in Commvault and backup architecture, along with the ability to design, implement, and sustain large-scale data protection environments. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and government stakeholders to deliver resilient backup solutions across complex enterprise infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and document enterprise data protection strategies for mission-critical workloads.
• Develop hardened installation, configuration, and operational procedures aligned with government and industry best practices.
• Lead engineering efforts for enterprise backup solutions using Commvault and related technologies.
• Support operational backup infrastructure and provide expert troubleshooting when required.
• Collaborate with engineers and solution owners to identify and implement optimal protection strategies.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives involving automation, cloud technologies, and data center operations.
• Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational metrics.
• Deliver technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and training to stakeholders.
• Participate in planned travel to support distributed environments and deployment activities. Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience developing and administering enterprise backup platforms, including: o Commvault (CommCell, Media Agents, deduplication, encryption, immutability, air-gapped solutions) o Experience with additional backup technologies such as Rubrik, Veeam, or Backup Exec • 5+ years supporting Windows Server environments, including: o Active Directory o DNS/DHCP o VSS o Storage services • 2+ years of VMware vSphere administration, including: o ESXi o vCenter o VM backup and recovery workflows o Snapshots and Change Block Tracking (CBT) • 2+ years of PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Hands-on administration of Commvault and/or Rubrik in large-scale, multi-site environments.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, VLANs, firewalls, and secure backup network design.
• Experience creating technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Active Secret Security Clearance or higher.
• High school diploma or GED.
• IAT Level II compliance, including: o An approved IA certification (such as Security+ CE or higher) o An approved Operating Environment certification
• Ability to support on-site collaboration with government stakeholders.
• Ability to travel internationally for planned deployments and support activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commvault Professional or Master Certification.
• VMware VCP-DCV certification.
• Microsoft Windows Server or Hybrid Administrator certifications.
• CISSP, SSCP, or similar advanced security certifications.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning, site recovery procedures, and Active Directory recovery.
• Experience with storage technologies including NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, SAN, NAS, tape libraries, and key management solutions.
• Experience integrating cloud backup solutions with Azure, AWS, and object storage platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
