Job Title: Learning Engineer
Location: Remote with occassional visit (Need somone from DMV Area only)
Duration: Long Term
Security Requirements:
Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a Public Trust or higher security clearance (depending on data access requirements).
Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical and innovative Learning Engineer to bridge the gap between learning science, data analytics, and educational technology.
In this role, you will focus heavily on EdTech analysis-evaluating, implementing, and optimizing our digital learning ecosystem to ensure measurable improvements in learner outcomes.
You will act as the resident expert on learning technologies, using data-driven insights to guide pedagogical strategies and tool adoption across our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
EdTech Analysis & Evaluation
Conduct rigorous needs analyses to identify gaps in the current learning ecosystem and recommend appropriate technological solutions.
Evaluate emerging educational technologies, platforms, and vendors based on pedagogical efficacy, user experience, accessibility (WCAG), and technical interoperability (LTI, xAPI).
Design and execute pilot programs for new EdTech tools, defining clear success metrics and evaluation frameworks.
Data-Driven Optimization & Learning Analytics
Analyze learning data from Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Record Stores (LRS), and other integrated platforms to assess learner engagement and performance.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to evaluate specific digital learning interventions.
Translate complex learning data into actionable insights and comprehensive reports for stakeholders, instructional designers, and leadership.
Learning Experience Design & Integration
Apply evidence-based learning science principles and cognitive psychology to the integration of technology in learning environments.
Collaborate with instructional designers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that selected EdTech tools seamlessly support desired learning objectives rather than driving them.
Develop technical workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the scalable use of learning technologies.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Learning Engineering, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in learning design, EdTech evaluation, or learning analytics.

Technical Proficiency:
Deep understanding of learning standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI).
Experience analyzing enterprise-level Educational Technology platforms.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and basic statistical analysis.
Strong proficiency in technical and analytical report writing.
Understanding of digital accessibility standards, including Section 508 compliance and WCAG.
Knowledge: Strong grounding in educational technology, adult learning theories, multimedia learning principles, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical or statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
