About the RoleWe are currently looking for an experienced Estimator to join our Contract and Bid team in a full-time permanent role based in the Melbourne CBD.
This role will be key in securing major electrical transmission and utility scale renewable energy projects for our business. You will lead the development of accurate, competitive, and innovative cost estimates, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to transform customer requirements into commercially viable solutions. From opportunity identification through to executive approval, your expertise will help drive successful bid outcomes and support the continued growth of the business.
In addition this role will lead estimating activities across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure opportunities. You will also build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to access market intelligence and competitive pricing, while contributing to continuous improvement through the enhancement of estimating systems, methodologies, and cost data libraries that strengthen future bid performance.
Other key duties and responsibilities- Lead the development of accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical transmission and utility scale renewable energy opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop innovative, customer focused solutions that support winning bids.
- Analyse client requirements, technical documentation, and project scope to determine estimating inputs and methodologies.
- Manage the RFQ process, including the preparation, issue, evaluation, and negotiation of subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Lead opportunity risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies to support commercial success.
- Prepare estimating analyses, business cases, and approval documentation in accordance with governance requirements.
- Present estimate summaries, methodologies, assumptions, risks, and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement through the maintenance of estimating databases, enhancement of estimating processes, and development of strong supplier and subcontractor relationships.
- Tertiary qualification in Construction, Engineering, Management, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, systems, and software.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and manage project risks throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Sound knowledge of construction delivery, planning, scheduling, and safety requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex technical and commercial information.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and clients.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to support successful project outcomes.
