Technical Writer

Description
We are looking for a Technical Writer to support the Information Security team in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania through a Long-term Contract assignment. This role focuses on improving and expanding enterprise knowledge base content so employees across technical and business functions can easily access accurate, useful documentation. The ideal candidate brings strong writing judgment, a structured approach to content quality, and the ability to turn complex operational information into clear, practical guidance.

Responsibilities

Evaluate the current ServiceNow knowledge base, identify outdated or missing content, and recommend a prioritized plan for improvement. Create and refine documentation standards that establish consistent tone, formatting, metadata use, categorization, and content governance practices. Produce user-friendly procedures, support articles, runbooks, and instructional materials tailored to both technical teams and non-technical employees.

Work closely with subject matter experts to confirm technical accuracy, clarify incomplete information, and align documents with active business processes. Build and maintain reusable templates, editorial guidance, and tagging approaches that improve consistency across the knowledge base. Manage a steady documentation backlog independently, track progress against priorities, and raise risks or dependencies in a timely manner. Revise published content based on stakeholder feedback, policy updates, and evolving operational requirements.

Support documentation related to security operations, access controls, incident handling, or other regulated process areas when needed. Requirements
At least 5 years of experience leading documentation, technical writing, or knowledge management efforts in a detail-focused environment. Proven ability to convert complex technical information into clear, plain-language content for varied audiences. Strong experience writing for both technical specialists and business users with different levels of subject matter familiarity.

Hands-on familiarity with knowledge base platforms; experience working within ServiceNow is highly preferred. Understanding of IT, security, operational procedures, or controlled process documentation in regulated environments is preferred. Knowledge of content strategy, information architecture, UX writing, or structured documentation practices is a plus. Background in financial services, mortgage banking, or another highly regulated industry is advantageous. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
