Job Description:
Our organization is seeking an experienced and senior-level Software Engineer and Front-End Developer. This is a contract position.
The office locations for this role are Albuquerque, NM; El Segundo, CA; or Kent, WA. This position requires 100% onsite work.
Role Overview
The selected Software Engineer will join a team focused on building the next generation of products and services. You will be responsible for designing and developing front-end software, working with UI/UX experts to create Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI). Initially, the role will focus on requirements gathering, documentation, and system architecture and design. Development and coding work is anticipated to begin at a later stage, and the ideal candidate should be comfortable contributing to both planning and future development activities.
Key Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements gathering and planning for future development.
• Create documentation and write system requirements.
• Assist with architecture and design for both front-end and back-end systems.
• Support the team in defining future software development efforts.
• Lead the design, development, and analysis of software system user interfaces.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate software requirements and models.
• Complete system-level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities.
• Lead code reviews to ensure alignment with requirements and standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• 5-10 years of professional experience is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with front-end software languages, frameworks, and libraries such as HTML5, JavaScript, and React.
• Experience with API integration.
• Knowledge of foundational computer science principles, object-oriented design, and software patterns.
• Experience with requirements gathering and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing front-end user interfaces using Astro UX or Azure UX.
• Experience with software engineering principles, including Software Configuration Management, Software Architecture and Design, and Software Life Cycle Management.
• Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python, JS frameworks (jQuery UI, Open Layers), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, REST, and OpenAPI.
• Experience using dependency management and automation services (e.g., Ivy, Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins).
• Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, and CI/CD management.
• Experience with front-end software for control systems, embedded FPGA, operator interfaces, or control gimbals.
• Adaptability and strong communication skills.
