The Role

• Interpret engineering drawings and prepare plate materials using methods like oxy-fuel cutting and hand grinding.
• Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding of components.
• Fabricate various ship items including seats, ladders, flooring, panels, and watertight doors.
• Form materials using machinery such as rolling, flanging, and cutting equipment.
• Work collaboratively in teams of 6-12 to produce high-quality steelwork.

What You'll Need

• Hold a Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Demonstrate up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Understand and apply core manufacturing processes, including tack welding to safety and quality standards.
• Confidently and responsibly operate oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
• Adhere to SHE principles and risk-assessment requirements in all working conditions.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, with relevant safety certifications.
