This position is ideal for a motivated professional seeking a leadership role within a dynamic workshop setting - buses.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Deputy Engineering Manager who will be crucial in:

  • Ensuring the fleet of buses are maintained to the standard required by the Company, TfL and the DVSA.
  • Achieving maximum vehicle availability and continually improving standards,
  • Influence on Health & Safety compliance/culture, fatigue management and employee wellbeing
Pay and benefits:

Essential Requirements:

  • You should have a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures for large vehicles, preferably PCVs, as well as knowledge of electrical engineering, bodywork construction and basic stores procedures.
  • Ability to gain a Transport CPC.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, analyse and make decisions is also essential as well as an up-to-date understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Work any 5 days out of 7 on a shift basis.

Duties

  • Supervise and manage workshop to deliver results - service requirements, MOTs, general maintenance.
  • Oversee all equipment use and repair/maintenance.
  • Oversee parts inventory.
  • Lead a health and safety culture.
  • Manage and lead staff, ensuring the team is constantly learning and developing.
  • Cover the work.
  • Work with the wider support team to bring results on a technical or project basis.
  • Paperwork compliance for servicing, legislation, group standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a heavy vehicle workshop, knowledge and hands on ability to be able to demonstrate, coach and deliver.
  • Able to lead from the front with a team of technicians/ mechanics.
  • Health and Safety focused.
  • A great communicator
  • At least a qualified mechanic, up to NVQ level 3.
