RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Engineering Manager in Salt Lake City, UT.

Summary

Our partner is seeking an experienced, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead and develop multiple engineering teams supporting critical technology initiatives. This is a player-coach leadership role for someone who has progressed through a technical engineering career and can combine strong leadership, technical expertise, architecture, and strategic execution.

The Engineering Manager will lead teams responsible for software and infrastructure initiatives, partner closely with business stakeholders, and drive the adoption of automation and AI to improve engineering processes and deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams while fostering a strong, collaborative engineering culture
  • Act as a player-coach, providing technical leadership and contributing hands-on when needed
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into technical execution
  • Oversee the design, architecture, development, and implementation of critical technology initiatives
  • Drive the adoption of automation, AI, and modern engineering practices
  • Provide technical direction across software development, cloud technologies, architecture, and infrastructure
  • Ensure projects follow established SDLC, security, compliance, and operational standards
  • Lead hiring, performance management, career development, and overall team growth
  • Manage priorities, resources, budgets, and technical delivery across multiple teams

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience in banking, treasury, payments, financial services, or other large-scale enterprise environments
  • Experience across the DevOps and SDLC lifecycle, including CI/CD and automation
  • Demonstrated experience using automation and AI to improve engineering processes and develop innovative solutions
  • Previous engineering leadership or management experience with responsibility for hiring, developing, and managing engineering teams
  • Strong technical background and experience progressing through an engineering career, with hands-on experience in areas such as Java, Python, cloud technologies, AI, or similar modern technology stacks
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships with business stakeholders and successfully execute against strategic objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large, complex technology organizations or high-volume transaction environments
  • Broad technical background spanning software engineering, cloud, architecture, automation, and emerging AI technologies

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
