Job Description

SAAB is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer to help lead complex defense and security manufacturing programs. You will support the Chief Engineer in defining technical strategy, system architectures, and engineering standards across air, land, naval, and cyber-related products. Responsibilities include overseeing multidisciplinary design, integration, and verification; resolving critical technical issues; managing technical risks; and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and defense regulations. You will mentor engineers, drive innovation, and collaborate with global teams to deliver reliable, mission-critical solutions on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief Engineer in defining technical strategy, architectures, and standards for complex defense systems.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary design, integration, and verification for air, land, naval, and cyber-related products.
  • Resolve critical technical issues and manage engineering risk, reliability, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and defense/industry regulations and standards.
  • Lead technical reviews, design approvals, and configuration control activities.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, fostering innovation and best engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams in manufacturing, program management, and supply chain.
  • Support planning, cost estimates, and schedules for major engineering work packages.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders on technical requirements, trade-offs, and design decisions.
