Business Systems Engineering Manager

The Business Systems Development Manager is a “player-coach” leader responsible for the delivery and technical direction of the Business Systems Development team — approximately eight developers based across the U.S., Canada, and Asia. This role combines hands-on technical contribution across Salesforce development, MuleSoft integration development, and database administration with day-to-day people leadership, mentoring, and delivery management. The team’s current strength is in Salesforce and NetSuite development; this leader will build on that foundation while growing the team’s capabilities in integration development, data platform engineering, and general database administration. The ideal candidate is both a strong individual technical contributor and an experienced people manager who can set technical standards, develop talent, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable business systems.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a hands-on technical contributor and player-coach — personally developing and reviewing code across Salesforce (Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow) and MuleSoft integrations and providing DBA-level guidance and support as needed
\n
• Set technical direction and best practices for Salesforce and NetSuite development, MuleSoft integration architecture, Databricks/data platform work, and database administration
\n
• Own the team’s roadmap for building new capabilities in ETL, Data Platforms, and DBA disciplines, including training, hiring, and process development to grow these skillsets across the team
\n
• Lead, mentor, and manage a distributed team of approximately eight business systems developers across the U.S., Canada, and Asia, including hiring, performance management, career development, and day-to-day workload prioritization
\n
• Partner with business stakeholders and technology leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions across Salesforce, NetSuite, MuleSoft, and the broader data platform
\n
• Provide database administration oversight, including performance tuning, security, backup/recovery, and data governance across production databases
\n
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across business systems to increase reliability and reduce manual effort
\n

Requirements:

\n
• Proven hands-on experience as a Salesforce developer (Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, Flow, SOQL/SOSL), including custom development and complex integrations
\n
• Hands-on database administration skills (schema design, performance tuning, security, backup/recovery) across relational databases; Databricks or other modern data platform experience strongly preferred
\n
• Proven hands-on experience with modern code generation tools such as Cursor, Github CoPilot, VsCode, or equivalent
\n
• 3+ years of experience leading, managing, or mentoring a team of developers, ideally in a “player-coach” capacity
\n
• You will have development/story work on your personal plate of work
\n

Nice To Have:

• NetSuite development/administration experience preferred
\n
• Hands-on MuleSoft development experience (Anypoint Platform, DataWeave, API-led connectivity), or strong readiness to lead a team building this capability
\n
• Experience managing distributed, global teams across multiple time zones
\n
• Strong understanding of API integration patterns, ETL/data pipelines, and enterprise system architecture
\n
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards
\n
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-system issues, particularly in a sales system context
\n
• Strong project management skills; Agile/Scrum experience preferred
\n
• Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., Salesforce Platform Developer I/II, MuleSoft Certified
\n
• Developer, or database/cloud data certifications)
\n
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and represent the team to senior leadership
