Engineering Director

Our client seeks an Engineering Director to own the build and delivery of healthcare technology platforms and related digital products. The role reports to the VP of Technology and leads onshore and offshore engineers. The leader will remain hands-on in solution architecture for complex distributed systems and will champion AI-assisted engineering to enhance software delivery. The Engineering Director will partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into secure, compliant, and reliable solutions that support interdisciplinary care for vulnerable seniors.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Qualified applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis.
Salary: $175,000 - $225,000/ yr. w2
Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage onshore and offshore engineers delivering healthcare platforms and digital products, including hiring, training, supervising, and developing team members.
• Perform hands-on solution architecture and design for complex distributed systems, participating in design and code reviews to align to business outcomes and enterprise standards.
• Drive engineering practices including code quality, design and code reviews, automated testing discipline, CI/CD, and release management while improving standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Champion AI-assisted engineering by embedding LLMs, AI developer tooling, and automation into design, build, test, and release workflows.
• Partner with business stakeholders from requirements discovery through deployment and operational support to deliver product outcomes.
• Guide technology planning and investment decisions with leadership, aligning platform solutions to roadmaps.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and present to colleagues and multiple management levels.
• Ensure security and data integrity for PCI and HIPAA objectives.
• Maintain testing, training, and production environments handling protected health data in line with security protocols.
• Migrate changes to production using established change management processes.
• Complete documentation accurately and on time, protect privacy, follow policies, support quality improvement, and manage workload priorities.
• Complete mandated training and occupational health screenings and adapt to evolving business needs.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 15 years in IT design, development, and support with end-to-end enterprise application delivery.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership including distributed onshore/offshore models with demonstrated hiring and mentorship.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft development tools and languages (.NET) with expert-level skills across multiple software disciplines.
• Extensive experience with cloud-native architecture and Azure delivery.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and practices, including LLM-based tooling, code generation, and workflow automation.
• Ability to assess business problems and evaluate technology options to select fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Knowledge of project lifecycles including design, analysis, testing, and implementation with large-scale planning experience.
• Healthcare technology platform experience preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences across facilities and levels.
• Experience in fast-paced, collaborative, team-based environments with strong organization and communication.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to prioritize effectively.
• Experience working with diverse backgrounds and a commitment to serving vulnerable seniors.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience. Relevant professional experience may be substituted.
• Solution Architecture certification preferred (Azure).
