MicroStrategy Developer
Location: Media, PA — Onsite 4 days/week
Contract: 6 months, with possibility of extension
Relocation: Accepted — candidate must be able to work onsite from Day 1
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced MicroStrategy Developer to support a client's Applied Marketing Analytics team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on MicroStrategy development experience, advanced SQL skills, and the ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams.
This is a fast-paced contract opportunity for someone who can quickly understand reporting and analytics requirements, develop scalable BI solutions, troubleshoot production issues, and deliver reliable reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain MicroStrategy Dossiers, Reports, Dashboards, Documents, Metrics, Filters, and Prompts.
- Develop and manage MicroStrategy metadata and schema objects, including attributes, facts, hierarchies, transformations, and semantic/reporting layers.
- Write, analyze, tune, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries against large datasets.
- Work with database views, stored procedures, cubes, and reporting data structures.
- Partner with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Integrate and validate data from multiple sources to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
- Troubleshoot MicroStrategy, data, and performance issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Support testing, defect resolution, deployment validation, production support, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
- Work collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum environment and independently manage assigned deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on MicroStrategy development experience.

- Metrics
- Filters
- Prompts
- Schema and metadata development
- Attributes, facts, hierarchies, and transformations
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing, tuning, and troubleshooting complex queries.
- Experience with relational or cloud databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Teradata, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modeling, including star/snowflake schemas, facts, dimensions, and aggregated reporting.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical teams.
- Ability to gather requirements, identify data dependencies, clarify assumptions, and communicate technical solutions.
- Experience supporting production analytics/reporting environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior consulting or contract experience.
- Agile/Scrum experience.
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong documentation and knowledge-transfer skills.
Important Requirement
This position is ONSITE in Media, PA, 4 days per week. Candidates must be able to work onsite from Day 1. Relocation candidates are welcome as long as they can meet the Day 1 onsite requirement.
