Databricks- Summary of their AI experience. Build AI Solutions using DataBricks. Using AI for coding and day to day job. Claude AI or Codex. Databricks or OpenAI or Chatbots using DataBricks. At least very hands on for the past year or two.

Databricks certs are a plus.

Functional Requirements – building solutions – meeting with stakeholders regularly.

We are looking for a hands-on database developer who is equally comfortable writing high-performance T-SQL on SQL Server and building on the Databricks Lakehouse platform. You will own the stored procedures and data-movement logic that power our enterprise applications, partner daily with our backend .NET developers on their data-access needs, and lead the adoption of Databricks across the enterprise, including Unity Catalog, Lakebase (Postgres), and AI/BI solutions such as Genie built on our enterprise data.

This is a builder role: you will write production code every day, and you will also set the patterns and standards others follow.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Server Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Write and manage complex T-SQL for moving data between systems (ETL/ELT, batch loads, incremental syncs) and for retrieving data efficiently for application.
  • Tune queries and indexes; analyze execution plans; resolve blocking, deadlocks, and long-running jobs.
  • Maintain schema changes, deployment scripts, and versioning of database objects through source control and CI/CD.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and auditability of database code.
  • Act as the SQL subject-matter expert for the .NET backend team: translate application requirements into well-designed stored procedures and data-access patterns.
  • Review data-access code and queries originating from application code (Entity Framework, Dapper, ) and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and code reviews as an embedded member of the engineering team.

Databricks Platform

  • Build the Unity Catalog: catalogs, schemas, tables, volumes, lineage, and data-quality standards.
  • Work with Databricks Lakebase (managed Postgres) to support transactional and operational use cases alongside the lakehouse.
  • Bootstrap Databricks adoption in enterprise applications: establish reference architectures, connection patterns, and reusable templates that application teams can follow.
  • Build and deploy AI/BI Genie spaces on curated enterprise data, including semantic modeling, instructions, and sample queries that make Genie accurate for business users.
  • Prototype and productionize additional Databricks AI capabilities (e.g., vector search, model serving) where they add value.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify high-impact use cases and measure outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • [6+] years of professional experience developing on Microsoft SQL Server, with deep expertise in T-SQL and stored-procedure development.
  • Hands on experience on AI first development process including working with different AI CLI tool (Claude code, Codex)
  • Proven track record writing and maintaining complex SQL for data movement and retrieval in production environments.
  • Strong query performance tuning skills: execution plans, indexing strategy, statistics, and concurrency troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, and notebooks/workflows.
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and familiarity with Databricks Lakebase.
  • Experience collaborating directly with application developers, ideally in a .NET / C# environment, and an understanding of how applications consume database objects.
  • Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines for database and data-platform code.
  • Strong communication skills; able to explain data design decisions to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience building or administering AI/BI Genie spaces or similar natural-language analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Azure services commonly paired with Databricks (ADLS, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Entra ID).
  • Knowledge of data governance, row/column-level security, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments.
