Full Stack Java / AI Software Developer Location: Remote (U.S.) / Gaithersburg, MD / Eagan, MN

Initial Duration: 6 Months with Potential Permanent Conversion
Target Start: December 2026 Position Overview Agensys is seeking experienced Full Stack Java / AI Software Developers to support a new federal initiative focused on developing cloud-based automation capabilities. This is a six-month product development effort leveraging Java, Spring Boot, React, GitLab, and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.

Developers will use AI coding agents to design, generate, review, and validate software, accelerating development while maintaining high standards for code quality, security, and performance. The initial engagement is contract-to-hire, with the potential to transition into a permanent engineering position supporting additional federal technology programs. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and REST APIs.
• Use Claude Code and AI coding agents to accelerate software development, testing, and debugging.
• Translate requirements into technical designs and structured instructions for AI-assisted coding.
• Review, troubleshoot, and validate AI-generated code.
• Collaborate with Agile teams, product owners, and engineers to deliver cloud-based applications.
• Utilize GitLab for source control, code reviews, and development workflows. Required Qualifications
• Strong full-stack Java development experience, including Spring Boot, React, and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code or comparable AI coding tools (Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot).
• Experience directing AI coding agents and reviewing generated code.
• Experience with GitLab or comparable Git-based development tools.
• Knowledge of Agile development, cloud applications, and automated testing.
• U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status, subject to final program eligibility requirements.
• Ability to complete a background investigation and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, or DevSecOps.
• Experience developing complex, cloud-based enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with large-scale federal technology environments.
