Location: Louisville, KY OR Austin, TX — Onsite
Duration:12 months

Role Overview:

We are seeking a NOC Engineer to support a 24x7 Network Operations Center responsible for monitoring network and service environments, identifying incidents, performing initial troubleshooting, and coordinating timely restoration. The engineer will help maintain network availability, meet SLAs, and ensure effective communication and escalation during critical incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network, infrastructure, applications, and service platforms for alarms, alerts, outages, and performance issues.
  • Analyze and correlate events to determine severity, impact, and priority of incidents.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting across routing, switching, broadband, access/core networks, Wi-Fi, voice, video, mobile, and enterprise services.
  • Troubleshoot telecom/cable technologies including CMTS, HFC, and DOCSIS environments.
  • Create and maintain accurate incident/service tickets, documenting troubleshooting steps, impact, actions, and resolution status.
  • Manage P1/P2 incidents, including initiating conference bridges, coordinating technical teams, tracking restoration, and communicating progress.
  • Escalate issues appropriately to network engineering, field operations, vendors, application teams, and leadership.
  • Follow established SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, change-management processes, and ITIL practices.
  • Ensure incidents are acknowledged, escalated, updated, and closed within defined SLA requirements.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA), post-incident reviews, and corrective/continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain clear communication during major incidents, shift handoffs, and operational updates.
  • Prepare operational reports and provide visibility into network health, incidents, recurring issues, and service performance.

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on NOC / Network Operations experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network connectivity.
  • Experience with network monitoring, alarm/event management, and incident ticketing systems.
  • Understanding of broadband, cable, HFC, DOCSIS, CMTS, Wi-Fi, voice, and enterprise networks.
  • Experience handling P1/P2 incidents and escalations.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, incident management, SLA management, and operational procedures.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a 24x7 NOC/shift environment.
