Job Title: Alteryx Developer

Location: Charlotte, NC

Position Summary:

We are seeking an Alteryx Developer to design, build, and maintain automated data preparation and analytics workflows that support business reporting and decision-making. The successful candidate will partner with business stakeholders to translate manual, spreadsheet-driven processes into scalable, governed Alteryx solutions, and will publish and support those solutions on the Alteryx Server or Analytics Cloud Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather requirements from business and technical stakeholders and translate them into Alteryx workflow designs.
• Develop, test, and document workflows in Alteryx Designer using tools for data input/output, preparation, joins, parsing, transformation, and reporting.
• Build reusable macros (batch, iterative, standard) and analytic apps to support self-service use by business teams.
• Write and tune SQL for data extraction from relational sources; work with In-DB tools where appropriate to push processing to the database.
• Integrate data from a range of sources: databases, flat files, Excel, APIs, cloud storage, and enterprise applications.
• Publish, schedule, and monitor workflows on Alteryx Server / Gallery or the Alteryx Analytics Cloud Platform; troubleshoot failures and performance issues.
• Optimize existing workflows for run time, memory usage, and maintainability.
• Apply data quality checks, error handling, and validation logic to ensure output accuracy.
• Maintain technical documentation, version control practices, and deployment notes for all delivered workflows.
• Support downstream reporting by delivering curated outputs to BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 plus years of hands-on experience building production workflows in Alteryx Designer.
• Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of relational database concepts.
• Demonstrated experience with ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling, and data warehousing fundamentals.
• Experience publishing and scheduling workflows on Alteryx Server or Alteryx Analytics Cloud.
• Proven ability to work with business users to define requirements and deliver iteratively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to data accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Alteryx Designer Core and/or Advanced Certification (Expert certification a strong plus).
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Familiarity with Python or R integration within Alteryx.
• Experience with Alteryx predictive, spatial, or text mining tool sets.
• Exposure to BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
• Experience in a regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, insurance) with associated data governance requirements.
• Understanding of Agile delivery and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
