Job Description

Role: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Quality Engineering & Transformation practice serving a strategic enterprise client.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining automation strategies, architecting test automation frameworks, and driving continuous testing across UI, APIs, microservices, and databases. Working within an Agile delivery setup, you will collaborate closely with client product teams, solution architects, and DevOps engineers to embed quality engineering practices into the CI/CD pipeline and accelerate software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Framework Design & Development:

Design, build, and maintain scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks from scratch using Java, Python, or C#.
Develop robust UI automation test suites using Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress.
Develop comprehensive API/Microservices test automation scripts using REST Assured, Postman, or Karate.

Continuous Testing & CI/CD Integration:

Embed test execution scripts into continuous integration and deployment pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI).
Manage test execution schedules, analyze build pipeline failures, and optimize test run times through parallel execution.

Agile Quality Engineering & Shift-Left Strategy:

Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and product owners during sprint planning and story grooming to establish clear acceptance criteria (Definition of Done).
Implement "Shift-Left" testing methodologies to identify defects early in the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Prepare test data strategies, mock services/stubs, and maintain backend database validation scripts using SQL.

Defect Life Cycle & Quality Metrics:

Log, track, and triage bugs using Jira, driving issue resolution through direct collaboration with engineering teams.
Generate and present test execution reports, automation coverage metrics, and release-readiness quality gates to client leadership
