Are you an accomplished project or program management leader with a proven track record delivering large-scale construction and infrastructure portfolios? Do you thrive in complex environments where safety, commercial performance, stakeholder management, and operational excellence are critical to success?
We are seeking an experienced Head of Projects to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of works across the Western Australian Pilbara region. Managing annual programs valued in excess of $300 million, this is a rare opportunity to influence strategic project outcomes while leading high-performing teams across capital, specialised, and high-volume construction projects.
Reporting to the Projects Director, you will provide leadership, governance, and direction across a significant portfolio while driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
As the Head of Projects, you will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of a substantial project portfolio ranging from operational works through to major capital projects valued $200M+.
You will lead a team of direct reports and an extended workforce of approximately 30 employees and contracting partners while working closely with clients, operational leaders, supply chain, finance, HSE, compliance, and external stakeholders.
This role requires a strategic leader who can balance commercial outcomes, client expectations, project risks, and resource allocation while ensuring every project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Safety Leadership
- Champion a non-negotiable zero-harm culture across all projects and teams.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, legislative, contractual, and organisational requirements.
- Drive contractor accountability and reinforce industry-leading safety standards.
Portfolio Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the successful delivery of a multi-million-dollar project portfolio across multiple sites and locations.
- Provide strategic oversight of project performance, schedules, budgets, milestones, risks, and resources.
- Ensure projects are executed efficiently and aligned with client and business objectives.
Team Leadership & Capability
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead high-performing project teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Support leadership development across Project Managers, Supervisors, and broader project teams.
Governance & Risk Management
- Establish robust project governance frameworks, controls, and reporting structures.
- Identify and proactively manage project and portfolio risks.
- Drive compliance across project management processes, standards, and contractual obligations.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Manage portfolio budgets, forecasting, cash flow, and commercial performance.
- Drive cost control initiatives and maximise profitability and value delivery.
- Oversee procurement strategies, tender evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key interface between clients, senior leadership, operational teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Build trusted relationships that support successful project outcomes and long-term partnerships.
- Provide executive-level reporting on portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive innovation and best-practice project management methodologies.
- Standardise systems, reporting, and project delivery processes across the portfolio.
- Capture lessons learned and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and performance.
You are a strategic and hands-on leader who combines exceptional program management expertise with strong commercial acumen and the ability to inspire high-performing teams.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Extensive experience delivering major project and program portfolios within construction, infrastructure, resources, facilities management, or related industries.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior project or program management leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale project budgets, forecasting, contract performance, and financial outcomes.
- Proven success leading multidisciplinary teams across geographically dispersed operations.
- Strong understanding of project controls, governance frameworks, risk management, procurement, and contractor management.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.
- Experience delivering projects within complex operational environments.
- Advanced capability across project management software, reporting platforms, and digital project tools.
