Role Overview
This organization is seeking an experienced SolarWinds Administrator to provide essential technical support for the enterprise network monitoring and observability platform. The successful candidate will oversee the administration, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the SolarWinds Orion platform and its associated modules. This position operates within a federal IT environment, ensuring continuous visibility into the health, performance, and availability of critical IT systems, networks, and applications while adhering to established security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain the SolarWinds Orion platform and its modules, including NPM, SAM, NTA, IPAM, and NCM, across the enterprise environment.
• Develop, tune, and manage dashboards, alerts, and reports to facilitate proactive identification of infrastructure issues across servers, network devices, and applications.
• Manage the discovery, polling, and onboarding of new network nodes, servers, and devices in coordination with network and systems engineering teams.
• Serve as a primary resource during infrastructure incidents, leveraging monitoring data to assist in root cause analysis and resolution.
• Maintain comprehensive, current documentation for platform architecture, configurations, standard operating procedures, and system changes.
• Collaborate with network engineers, system administrators, security teams, and IT management to align monitoring capabilities with operational requirements.

Required Qualifications
Education: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: Proven hands-on experience administering the SolarWinds Orion platform, including the management of at least two core modules such as NPM, SAM, NTA, NCM, or IPAM.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of network protocols including SNMP, NetFlow, syslog, ICMP, and TCP/IP networking fundamentals. Proficiency with Windows Server administration and familiarity with SQL Server queries, database maintenance, and performance tuning related to the SolarWinds database are required. Candidates must also possess a solid understanding of IT monitoring best practices and ITSM frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications

• SolarWinds Certified Professional certification.
• CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or CompTIA Security+ certifications.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and cross-team coordination.
