Senior Technical Writer with Security Clearance

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Technical Writer to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This position is onsite. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Research, analyze, and verify technical data to bring manuals to required standards ensuring accuracy of information
• Communicate with appropriate departments and coordinate production and distribution of materials
• Conduct parts research for mechanical and electrical systems and equipment
• Interface with customer personnel, vendors, and military personnel
• Revise or write standardized material for manuals, instruction books and related technical publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment
• Receive technical direction from supervisor or senior writer, notes, manuals containing operating procedures, detailed manufacturer's catalogs, drawings and other data related to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment
• Access to blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail
• Must be able to travel occasionally Minimum Qualifications:
• HS Diploma or GED
• 4+ years of technical writer experience
• Knowledge or understanding in mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering
• Experience in the development of technical documents and manuals to specified military standards
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, specifically MSWord Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Arbortext 8.3 and above.
• Understanding of SGML
• Knowledge of the military, commercial and recreational marine industry in boats under 200 feet
• Working knowledge of Google Office Products
• Experience in Quality Assurance of technical documentation Clearance Requirements:
• U.S. Citizenship required and an active Secret security clearance Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit at a desk or workstation for extended periods while working on a computer
• Perform equipment validations on boats either on trailers or in the water.
• Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to climb up to three (3) flights of stairs.
• Crawling and maneuvering in confined spaces or bilge areas, if required
