Entry Level Software Engineer (T1) - Career Fair with Security Clearance

Job Description Overview Vertex LLC, a V2X company, is growing! Vertex is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our Modernization and Sustainment (M&S) Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting software development and integration of advanced systems including situational awareness displays, mission computers, avionics, sensors, mission equipment, and radar systems.

Our Indianapolis facility also supports a variety of other product lines serving multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers, providing the opportunity to work on a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career. Responsibilities As an entry-level Software Engineer, you'll typically work on a development team under the guidance of more experienced engineers. Your primary duties may include writing and testing code, fixing bugs, participating in code reviews, and helping to maintain and improve existing software systems.

You'll likely assist in the design and development of small features or components, contribute to documentation, and collaborate with teammates through version control and issue tracking systems. Over time, you'll be expected to develop your technical skills, take on more responsibility, and become more independent in solving problems and delivering code. Documenting workflows and methodologies is also essential to ensure transparency and reproducibility of results. This role involves continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies to drive innovation and business success.

Qualifications Required Skills

• 0 - 2+ years related experience in Software Development or other related engineering experience.
• Basic understanding of programming fundamentals in languages like C/C++, Java, and Python.
• Basic understanding of software development for one or more operating systems: Linux, Android, RTOS, or Windows.
• Strong communication and teaming skills.

Desired Skills

• Experience (academic or internship) with hardware-in-the-loop software development and integration (e.g. Robotics).
• Familiarity with Object Orie\nted Analysis (OOA) and Object-Oriented Design (OOD).
• Familiarity of one or more Agile process concepts
• Experience with scripting and test automation (e.g., Python scripts, Bash).
• Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like Android Studio, Eclipse, and MS Visual Studio and source control apps like GIT and GitHub
• Current/active/ability to obtain DoD Secret level or higher clearance. Security Clearance & Other Requirements:
• Ability to access systems with information restricted to U.S. citizens per federal contract requirements is required.
