OSP Engineer
Location: Halethorpe, Maryland (Remote)
Alternate Location: Fully remote
Role Overview
We are seeking an OSP Engineer responsible for designing additions, upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the Outside Plant electronics telephony network. This role involves supporting decommissioning efforts related to OSP electronics equipment connected to a retiring TDM switch. The engineer will coordinate with various internal departments and have direct contact with builders, property owners, and end users.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design additions, upgrades, repairs, and enhancements to the Outside Plant electronics telephony network, including structures, cable, and associated equipment.
  • Work on switch decommission projects as it relates to any OSP electronics equipment connected to the retiring TDM switch.
  • Coordinate with a variety of internal departments.
  • Engage with builders, building managers, property owners, and residential and business end users.
  • Solve complex problems with innovative solutions in diverse business and residential topologies.
  • Price out solutions and select the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
  • Operate with authority, up to a set dollar limit, to choose and implement solutions independently.
Required Qualifications
  • Former experience with the specified client is required.
  • Prior working experience and basic knowledge of telecom Outside Plant Engineering Practices and systems such as Telcordia systems LFACs, Switch, LEIS, and Tirks, with a heavy emphasis on TIRKS.
  • Experience with CAD programs as well as high proficiency with MS Excel and/or MS Access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Solid written and oral communications skills.
