Job Description

Senior Mechanical Estates Project Engineer

Location: North East England (Hybrid)

Salary: £47K - £57K + exceptional benefits

Contract: Full-time, Permanent


A prestigious, world-class public institution in the North East of England is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estates Project Engineer to join their growing Infrastructure team.

In this role, you will provide expert technical leadership and strategic oversight to ensure a complex, diverse estate remains safe, compliant, and future-ready. You will lead a team of mechanical engineering professionals, manage budgets, and oversee major capital and infrastructure projects that directly support the organization's core operations.


What you will do:

  • Lead & Manage: Guide and develop a team of mechanical engineering professionals, managing service performance and engineering budgets.
  • Project Oversight: Drive the technical delivery of major infrastructure and capital projects, ensuring value for money and sustainability.
  • Strategic Planning: Influence long-term estate planning, drive continuous improvement, and maintain regulatory and statutory compliance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to maintain high service standards.


What you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience working in a building services environment).
  • Proven experience managing mechanical building services infrastructure and leading technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance, health & safety, and financial management within a complex estate.
