Job Description

Executive Assistant / Personal Assistant to Group CEO

Birmingham – South Birmingham area | Hybrid

Up to £55,000 depending on experience

Full-time or part-time/flexible working considered

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant looking for much more than a traditional diary-management role.

SC Staff & Consult is recruiting an EA/PA to support a Group CEO within a successful and established organisation going through an exciting period of growth.

This is a highly trusted role where relationship, judgement and personality fit will be every bit as important as your technical EA skills.

You’ll be supporting a busy, entrepreneurial CEO with a demanding schedule and plenty of competing priorities. He needs someone who can get to know how he works, anticipate what he needs and become that all-important right hand — someone who can protect his time, keep things moving and tactfully refocus priorities when required.

What will you be doing?

Your remit will include:

  • Managing a busy and frequently changing diary and inbox
  • Prioritising meetings, appointments and communications
  • Coordinating UK and international travel, including flights, hotels, rail and ground transportation
  • Managing both business and personal commitments
  • Organising senior leadership meetings and one-to-ones
  • Supporting the CEO around networking, events and wider business activity
  • Acting as a key point of contact for senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparing meeting information, presentations, reports and briefing documentation
  • Keeping track of actions, priorities and follow-ups
  • Handling highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Looking at existing processes and finding smarter, more efficient ways of managing the CEO’s time, travel and commitments

Depending on your experience, there is also the potential for the remit to broaden over time and provide support across other members of the senior leadership team.

Who are we looking for?

This isn't about finding someone who can simply keep a busy diary under control.

We’re looking for an EA/PA who thinks ahead .

You’ll be calm, organised and emotionally intelligent, with the confidence to use your judgement rather than wait to be told what to do.

You’ll know when something genuinely needs the CEO’s attention, when it can wait and when you need to diplomatically say, “Actually, this is what we need to focus on first.”

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Strong previous PA/EA or senior executive support experience
  • Experience supporting a CEO, MD, Director or other senior executive
  • Excellent diary, inbox and travel management skills
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders
  • Strong judgement and the ability to prioritise on someone else’s behalf
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to remain calm when plans change — because they will!
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a good sense of humour

Previous experience within insurance, financial services, consultancy or professional services would be useful, but sector experience is not essential . The right EA/PA experience and, importantly, the right personality and approach are much more important.

The opportunity

What I particularly like about this role is that the successful person isn't expected to walk in on day one knowing everything.

You’ll have support while you learn the organisation, its people and how the CEO operates. The aim is to build a strong, trusted working relationship over time and ultimately make this role your own .

As the organisation continues to grow, there is real potential for the position to develop too.

Working arrangements

The role is based in the South Birmingham area , with hybrid working available and the exact pattern to be discussed at interview.

For someone looking for full-time hours, these are refreshingly sensible:

Monday to Friday, approximately 9am–5pm.

However, part-time and flexible working arrangements will also be considered , including potentially someone looking for a working pattern that fits around other commitments.

The package includes:

  • Salary up to £55,000 , depending on experience and the scope of the role
  • 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Employer pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Employee benefits and discounts
  • Electric vehicle salary-sacrifice scheme
  • Support with relevant professional qualifications
  • Hybrid working

This could be a brilliant long-term move for an experienced Birmingham EA/PA who enjoys being close to the decision-maker, wants genuine ownership of their role and gets satisfaction from making a busy executive’s working life run significantly better.
