Description:
Our Biotechnology Services Client is seeking a Translational Operations Management Consultant to provide operational and sample management support across 1-2 assigned programs. This role will be aligned to our clients scientist(s) SMEs (subject matter experts) who own each program; scientists lead biomarker strategy and manage key scientific relationships, where this role will serve as the operational lead, ensuring that the end-to-end sample management and biomarker operations are executed effectively.

This role will report into our client's Head of Nonclinical Operations with day-to-day work under our client's Director of Translational Operations.

Responsibilities:
Biomarker Sample Management & Operational Execution
  • Oversee the operational execution of biomarker sample management and biomarker endpoints for assigned clinical programs.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, non-clinical teams, biomarker scientists, and other internal stakeholders to ensure operational alignment.
  • Coordinate with external CROs, central laboratories, and other vendor partners to support program execution.
  • Oversee sample management activities including kit build, laboratory manuals, sample handling, shipment, receipt, analysis, and storage.
  • Ensure appropriate processes are established and followed to support the integrity and timely execution of biomarker sample activities.
Vendor & External Partner Oversight
  • Provide focused operational oversight of vendors supporting clinical sample management and biomarker activities.
  • Oversee clinical shipment processes, sample receipt, analysis, storage, and related operational activities.
  • Serve as a key operational point of contact for external partners, including central laboratories, CROs, and other vendors.
  • Coordinate with internal Clinical Operations and non-clinical stakeholders to resolve operational issues and maintain program timelines.
Data Generation & Transfer
  • Oversee the generation and transfer of biomarker-related data from external vendors into internal systems.
  • Work primarily within SharePoint and Trials Interactive systems to support data receipt and management.
  • Coordinate data transfers and ensure appropriate documentation and processes are in place, including Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs).
  • Partner with clinical CROs on larger clinical data pulls as needed, in coordination with the Biomarkers leadership team.

Experience Requirements:
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in translational operations, biomarker operations, clinical sample management, or a closely related function within the biopharmaceutical/clinical research (SPONSOR) environment
  • Strong understanding of translational research, sample assays (e.g., genomics, flow cytometry), and clinical trial lifecycles
  • Experience supporting programs in both the United States and Europe is required. Additional global clinical/program experience is preferred.
  • Experience working directly with vendors, clinical sites, CROs, and central laboratories.
  • Strong understanding of clinical sample logistics, including shipment, receipt, processing/analysis, and storage.
  • Experience with kit build and laboratory manuals.
  • Experience with Data Transfer Agreements (DTAs) and clinical data transfers.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to effectively work across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple operational workstreams and serve as the operational owner for assigned programs.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum requirement) or Advanced Degree in Biology, Life Sciences or related field
