Systems Security Administrator

Description
We are looking for a Systems Security Administrator to support and strengthen the security posture of our transport operations in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can monitor threats, respond to incidents, and maintain security platforms across a Microsoft-centered environment. The role requires a hands-on approach to endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and defensive monitoring, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams. Success in this position will come from combining sound security judgment with clear communication and dependable operational support.

Responsibilities

Monitor Microsoft security technologies, including Office 365 E5 security capabilities and endpoint protection tools, to identify, assess, and resolve cyber threats. Respond to security events with urgency by investigating alerts, containing risks, and supporting remediation efforts across affected systems. Administer and optimize vulnerability management platforms such as Rapid7 or Tenable, including tuning scans and helping drive effective patching activities.

Review intrusion detection and prevention alerts, examine suspicious behavior, and conduct proactive threat-hunting activities to uncover potential risks. Maintain and support security applications through installation, configuration, updates, and ongoing system upkeep. Help develop, apply, and reinforce security policies and technical controls across the environment. Work closely with internal teams to address security issues tied to patch cycles, system hardening, and operational challenges. Provide support during after-hours or weekend security incidents when timely response is required.

Contribute to DevSecOps-related security efforts where applicable, including collaboration with development and toolchain environments such as GitHub. Assist in strengthening security architecture by applying knowledge of Windows systems, networking, firewalls, and defensive best practices.

Requirements
2-3 years of experience working with Microsoft security solutions, including Office 365 E5 security products and/or SentinelOne.
2-3 years of hands-on experience with vulnerability management tools such as Rapid7 or Tenable.
2-3 years of experience using SIEM, intrusion detection, or intrusion prevention technologies to investigate threats and suspicious activity. Solid understanding of Windows environments, networking fundamentals, firewall concepts, and core security architecture principles. Experience deploying security software and performing ongoing maintenance and support.

Ability to implement security policies and apply them effectively in day-to-day operations. Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams on patching and security remediation efforts. Exposure to DevSecOps practices and related tools, including platforms such as GitHub, is preferred. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
