Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Active Directory / Quest Migration Engineer to support enterprise-wide directory services and domain migration initiatives. This role will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing Active Directory operations across complex, large-scale environments while serving as the primary expert for Quest Migration Manager.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Active Directory engineering, domain consolidation projects, hybrid identity environments, and PowerShell automation.

Key Responsibilities

Design, manage, and optimize on-premises Active Directory environments, including domains, forests, domain controllers, sites, services, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

Lead large-scale domain migration projects involving users, workstations, servers, and applications.

Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Quest Migration Manager and related migration tools.

Support ongoing merger and acquisition integration efforts through domain consolidation and identity migration.

Maintain and support hybrid identity environments using Entra ID and Azure AD Connect.

Troubleshoot complex Active Directory issues, including replication, DNS integration, security vulnerabilities, and legacy domain dependencies.

Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and migration processes.

Implement Active Directory security best practices, auditing, and compliance controls.

Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Create technical documentation and provide updates to leadership on migration progress and strategic initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.

7+ years of hands-on Active Directory engineering experience.

Deep expertise with Active Directory architecture, including multi-domain and multi-forest environments.

Proven experience performing large-scale Active Directory migrations and domain consolidations.

Strong experience with Quest Migration Manager.

Experience with Active Directory migration tools, including ADMT and PowerShell.

Strong knowledge of Group Policy administration and troubleshooting.

Experience supporting Windows Server environments.

2+ years of experience with hybrid identity solutions, including Entra ID and Azure AD Connect.

Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.

Strong understanding of Active Directory security, access controls, and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Azure infrastructure and cloud identity management.

Experience with Intune and endpoint management.

Familiarity with Active Directory monitoring and management tools.

Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.
