Senior Technical Project Manager
Location: Knoxville – Hybrid (on-site 3 days/wk)
Position Summary
The Senior Technical Project Manager (Project Manager III) leads complex, cross-functional initiatives within an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modernization portfolio, with a focus on Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials and related business processes. This role is responsible for project planning, stakeholder alignment, executive communications, governance, and delivery execution across multiple workstreams.
The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, understand business processes, and collaborate across technology and business teams to drive successful outcomes.
About the Team
This position supports enterprise-wide initiatives within a Project Management Office (PMO) environment. The team works closely with Finance, Technology, Data & Integrations, and Business Operations to deliver modernization efforts that improve operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, and business decision-making.
The Senior Technical Project Manager partners with project managers, business leaders, solution architects, and third-party vendors to ensure consistent project execution and value delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage project plans including scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, and milestones while maintaining visibility into project health and delivery status.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and facilitate resolution of risks, issues, and dependencies impacting project outcomes.
  • Establish governance processes, maintain decision logs, and provide consistent communication to executive sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Prepare executive-level status reports highlighting progress, risks, key decisions, and business impacts.
  • Support testing, cutover planning, go-live readiness, deployment activities, and post-implementation support.
  • Partner with Finance, Technology, and Operations teams to translate business objectives into actionable plans and priorities.
  • Coordinate activities with implementation partners and vendors to ensure accountability for deliverables and timelines.
  • Utilize PMO methodologies, standards, and project management tools such as ServiceNow SPM/PPM and Smartsheet where applicable.
Projects & Scope
  • Lead delivery of Oracle Fusion Cloud initiatives across ERP platforms, with an emphasis on Financials and supporting business processes.
  • Coordinate workstreams related to finance operations, system integrations, data conversion, testing, reporting, training, and deployment readiness.
  • Manage medium to large-scale programs while driving alignment, resolving ambiguity, and maintaining focus on business value and successful outcomes.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience delivering Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP projects, with exposure to Financials, financial reporting, or finance-related business processes preferred.
  • Strong project management experience including planning, governance, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and executive communications.
  • Ability to understand business processes and facilitate discussions between technical and business teams.
  • Experience working with implementation partners and managing projects using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Teams.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM/PPM) and Smartsheet is a plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Financials and enterprise finance processes.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, cutover planning, hypercare, and operational stabilization efforts.
  • Understanding of financial processes including:
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Accounts Payable (AP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Fixed Assets
    • Cash Management
    • Financial Reporting
  • Ability to analyze business processes, recommend improvements, and support solution delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts to executive and business audiences.
  • Demonstrated composure, resilience, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing team members.
Work Environment
  • Hybrid work arrangement with onsite requirements based on project needs and candidate location.
  • Reports to a senior PMO leadership position.
