Job Type: Full-Time, contract to hire

Job Location: Onsite in Minneapolis MN, Denver CO, or San Antonio TX

Project / Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer II or III to join the Central Project Delivery team and execute complex infrastructure implementations and migrations across diverse client environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, taking ownership of project execution, and delivering reliable solutions involving Microsoft cloud technologies, networking, servers, and on-premises infrastructure.

You will partner with Project Managers and technical teams to plan, implement, troubleshoot, and document client infrastructure projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Review project scopes and develop detailed technical implementation plans.

• Configure, deploy, and migrate Windows servers, networking equipment, firewalls, switches, and related infrastructure.

• Execute Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure implementations and migrations.

• Collaborate with Project Managers to coordinate technical activities, timelines, and project deliverables.

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges during project execution.

• Implement and configure networking technologies, including VLANs, VPNs, routing, NAT, and wireless networking.

• Produce accurate technical documentation covering configurations, implementations, and resolutions.

• Work collaboratively with internal engineering and services teams to support successful project outcomes.

• Provide technical guidance and assistance to other engineers when needed.

• Participate in occasional evening or after-hours implementations and migrations.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum five years of hands-on experience supporting and implementing network and systems infrastructure.

• Strong Tier 2/3-level infrastructure engineering capabilities, including independent technical troubleshooting and implementation.

• Experience implementing and migrating Microsoft 365, Azure, and related Microsoft technologies.

• Hands-on experience configuring and deploying firewalls, switches, servers, and network infrastructure.

• Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and modern Windows environments.

• Practical knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, NAT, and core networking concepts.

• Demonstrated ability to execute technical projects, create implementation plans, and coordinate with Project Managers.

• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently across multiple customer environments.

• Availability for onsite work and occasional after-hours project activities.

Bonus / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 certifications, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, or VCP-DCV.

• Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or technical professional services organization.

• Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, SAN technologies, Citrix, Exchange, or SQL Server.

• Experience configuring Cisco or HP networking equipment.

• Experience conducting technical discoveries and infrastructure assessments.

• Background mentoring or supporting junior engineers.

• Familiarity with technical project tracking, ticketing, and time-management systems.

The Ideal Human

You are a technically capable, self-directed engineer who enjoys implementing solutions rather than simply maintaining existing systems. You bring a practical, methodical approach to troubleshooting and project execution, and you can clearly explain your technical decisions to colleagues and customers.

You take ownership of your work, understand the importance of planning and documentation, and are comfortable navigating complex client environments. You balance technical confidence with humility, collaborate effectively with Project Managers and other engineers, and consistently focus on delivering successful outcomes for customers.
The projected hourly range for this position is $35 to $45.50.
