Lead Engineer, Precision Interconnect Systems - Full-Time / Canada
An innovative engineering and technology company is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and development of highly precise mechanical interface systems used in advanced testing and measurement environments. Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 8+ years of experience designing precision mechanical or electromechanical products
- Proven experience developing complex interconnect, contact, fixture, test, or high-reliability mechanical systems
- Strong understanding of contact behavior, wear mechanisms, friction, fatigue, material deformation, and lifecycle performance
- Experience selecting materials, coatings, and surface treatments to enhance durability and performance
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, dimensional control, and precision manufacturing principles
- Proficiency with modern CAD platforms and creation of detailed engineering documentation and production drawings
- Experience supporting products through the full development lifecycle, including prototyping, testing, manufacturing transfer, and production release
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams to optimize overall system performance
- Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, and communication skills
- Experience working with high-frequency, electronics, or advanced interconnect technologies
- Familiarity with precision alignment systems, compliant mechanisms, or self-centering mechanical designs
- Experience with reliability testing, accelerated lifecycle validation, and mechanical performance analysis
- Knowledge of simulation tools such as FEA for stress, vibration, or durability analysis
- Experience working with automated testing equipment, probe systems, or similar precision hardware
- Background in tribology, connector reliability, surface engineering, or materials performance
- Experience managing supplier relationships, prototype builds, and manufacturing qualification activities
