RGB Recruitment is working with a specialist civil engineering business looking to appoint a Civil Engineer / Project Engineer to support the delivery of construction projects across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a degree-qualified Civil Engineer with approximately 5–7 years' experience who enjoys the practical delivery of projects and wants to develop further responsibility across project management, commercial operations and contracts.

The role offers a varied mix of office and site-based work, with approximately 50% of your time spent at the South Devon office and the remainder visiting projects across the UK.

The Role

  • Manage civil engineering projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project budgets, cost reporting, forecasts and valuations.
  • Administer NEC4 and/or JCT contracts, including early warnings, compensation events and variations.
  • Prepare and maintain construction programmes.
  • Manage client relationships, attend progress meetings and provide project updates.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, RAMS and site health and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with design teams to resolve technical queries during construction.
  • Oversee quality documentation, handover records and final accounts.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (BSc or MSc).
  • Approximately 5–7 years' experience delivering civil engineering construction projects.
  • Experience managing project costs, budgets and subcontractors.
  • Working knowledge of NEC4 and/or JCT contracts.
  • Good understanding of construction health and safety and CDM regulations.
  • Confident communicating with clients, subcontractors and technical teams.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to projects across the UK.

Experience in infrastructure, water or other specialist civil engineering projects would be advantageous.
SMSTS, CSCS and ICE membership would also be beneficial, although training and professional development are available.

What's on Offer?

  • £45,000–£55,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual bonus and company pension.
  • Training, mentoring and professional development.
  • Clear opportunities for career progression.
  • A varied workload combining technical engineering and project delivery.
  • Supportive working environment with a strong focus on work-life balance.
