Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Systems Admin in Traverse City, MI. This is an onsite Monday-Friday position with a strong preference for an early start time. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting a variety of technical issues, and operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator/Desktop Support professional to provide hands-on technology support at a large manufacturing and distribution facility. This individual will serve as the primary onsite IT resource, supporting employees, equipment, and day-to-day technology needs while partnering with remote infrastructure teams and third-party service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, Microsoft 365, operating systems, applications, and other end-user technology
  • Install, configure, replace, and troubleshoot computers, tablets, printers, mobile devices, scanners, and peripherals
  • Support technology used throughout a manufacturing/production environment, including specialized operational devices and systems
  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact while coordinating with remote IT teams and managed service providers for network and infrastructure-related issues
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and user-access issues and escalate more complex infrastructure problems as appropriate
  • Assist with equipment refreshes, new technology deployments, installations, and migrations
  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and IT equipment
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal IT teams to ensure new equipment is delivered, configured, and operational on schedule
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and other facility teams to keep technology supporting production activities running reliably
  • Provide occasional after-hours support when business needs require

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in desktop support, systems administration, or corporate IT support
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Windows environments and Microsoft 365
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, and peripheral devices
  • Basic understanding of networking, switches, connectivity, and troubleshooting
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently as the primary onsite IT resource with limited day-to-day supervision
  • Ability to prioritize multiple issues and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable learning and supporting unfamiliar technologies and operational systems

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience supporting manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, logistics, or other industrial environments
  • Experience with RF scanners, handheld devices, production equipment, or other specialized operational technology
  • Experience working with an MSP or third-party infrastructure provider
  • Experience with timekeeping or workforce-management systems
  • Familiarity with enterprise network environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
