The Head of Teaching owns everything that happens in the classroom: the people who teach, the curricula and learning design they teach with, and the quality the programs are delivered at. As a member of the leadership team, with a seat on the Operating Board and a direct reporting line to the CEO, you are responsible for the whole Teaching organization, led through 8 direct reports, with full budget and personnel planning responsibility for the department.

The Head of Teaching collaborate closely with:

  • the Product Team, for the maintenance of existing courses and the launch of new courses

  • Admission, and Marketing teams for the promotion of our courses

What you'll do

Lead the teaching organization

  • Lead and develop the teaching organization

  • Own the structure of the organization itself: design roles, team setup, and reporting lines, and evolve them as the business changes

  • Own the department's people processes together with HR: hiring, onboarding, appraisals, and individual development paths for coaches and Track Leads, backed by a team development budget you manage

  • Act as the escalation point for conflicts, performance issues, and complaints: mediate directly and follow through with all parties

Own programs and learning design

  • Own curriculum strategy, learning design, and the quality of teaching and material across all tracks, executed largely through your Teaching Quality Manager, and set the strategic direction for how programs are structured and taught

  • Drive the continuous evolution of teaching methods, tooling, and program structures, and equip the teaching team to adopt them

  • Work with the Product team on new product strategy and course development, representing delivery feasibility and teaching quality; coordinate ongoing delivery with the Program team

  • Evaluate and manage external content and platform vendors, and keep curriculum documentation structured and auditable

Run operations and own the budget

  • Own the teaching delivery model and workforce strategy (the mix of permanent coaches and freelancers, staffing and allocation models) and carry final responsibility for the department's budget and personnel planning, operationalized by your Teaching Resource Manager together with each Track Lead for their team

  • Shape the annual cohort strategy and drive its planning together with the Admission and Marketing teams and the CEO: how often each program runs, how cohorts are placed across the year in line with seasonal demand, and the schedules, staffing, and delivery logistics that follow

Guarantee teaching quality

  • Guarantee teaching quality through your Teaching Quality Manager (quality reviews, documentation standards, continuous improvement), complemented by your own regular cohort visits to gather first-hand student feedback

  • Define and enforce student-facing academic policies together with the QM team

  • Ensure teaching delivery matches the certified program designs, partnering with the QM team, which owns AZAV certification and accreditation, on audit preparation and closing deviations

Support the promotion of our courses

  • Ensure the teaching organization is supporting marketing and admission team in their promotion initiatives

What you bring

  • Several years of leadership experience in adult tech education (bootcamp, academy, or vocational training), including leading a 30+ person organization through senior direct reports and managing a freelance workforce alongside it

  • A deep understanding of tech curricula, ideally with a hands-on background in software development, data, or design, and of modern didactics for intensive, cohort-based formats

  • The ability to lead an organization of tech educators through technological and methodological change, with genuine hands-on fluency in current tools and methods

  • Strong people leadership: coaching, honest feedback, conflict mediation, and calm handling of escalations

  • Operational and financial strength: budget responsibility, capacity planning, and structured, data-driven decision-making

  • Working knowledge of the German funded-education landscape (AZAV, Bildungsgutschein), or the ability to master it quickly

  • Business-fluent German and English; both are working and teaching languages

  • Based in Berlin, or having the ability to travel to Berlin frequently

Nice to have: experience with curriculum digitization or building education products.
